Right now, my classroom is bare, as I am a first year teacher. I want my students to feel at home. I want our classroom to be inviting, functional, organized, and comfortable for my students. I have included a rug for students to sit on, during calendar time and during centers. The rug will also be a choice for flexible seating. This rug will act as a space where all students come together to build a sense of community in the classroom. I am hoping that with the funding of this project, students are able to feel more at home, and have the necessary resources they need to grow. Additionally, the binder rings will be used for an interactive word wall. Students will use this while reading or writing. They are able to go up to our interactive wall and take the letter or word down. The clips will be used to hand soft lighting on the ceiling of the classroom which will set the tone and mood of the room as calm and welcoming. Dry erase markers will be used for students to show their work and to collaborate with the class. Students will write answers to questions on their dry erase boards and will discuss it with the class or their peers in any subject area. Dry erase markers are a great manipulative for young students, especially when showing their work. The shower curtains will be used as a canopy and divider to organize our class space. Elmers tac and Gorilla Tape will be used to hang student work and decor around the classroom. Hanging student work allows for a sense of ownership of the space, and the decor will make it feel at home without being overwhelming.
