My students are a mix of mainstreamed and special education students in an urban high school. Many are attracted to the arts (dance, singing, film, etc.) so math is not an area of great importance to them. The school takes the students' interests into account when designing lessons that incorporate the various mixed disciplines (for example, including the arts into mathematics), as well as the different types of learners we have in our classrooms: auditory, visual and kinesthetic.
