Flexible seating allows students to have control of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work time, every student has a choice of where they would like to sit to complete their work. Currently, my students are choosing to work at their table spots or on one of the two rugs that I have in my classroom. Many of my students choose to spread out and work on the rug because there are up to six students working at a small table. During independent work time, I spend all of my time working in small groups and conferences with students on the rug. When I am facilitating a small group, there are other students in close proximity on the rug who are trying their best to stay focused and work independently. It often becomes very difficult for my small group and the other students around my small group to stay focused. There are 32 students in my classroom and often not enough seating flexibility for me to facilitate a focused small group or conference. The product that I have selected will help support and create more space for small group work and conferencing. The kidney-shaped group table will be extremely beneficial for this work for it will provide more flexibility with seating arrangements. This table will create a space for my students to focus on small group reading, writing and math instructional time. Currently, we have to sit on the rug, which makes it very difficult for it is often very crowded in this space. Thank you for any donation you would be willing to give. My class and I will benefit greatly from your generosity!
