On average, my students are sitting behind their desk for about five hours of their day within my classroom. It can be during learning time, individual work, or group work. Flexible seating, such as a wobble chairs, will give students the chance to move and learn at the same time. Movement allows for increased oxygen in the brain, which in turn allows students to be more productive. It gives them the opportunity to find the best spot for them the learn within my classroom. I have often seen my students fidgeting or moving in their stationary chairs, though this distracts more from their learning. The physical element allowed with the wobble chair will promote learning as well as the ability to move. Each student will have an opportunity to benefit from these chairs, as they will be used on a rotational basis within my classroom. I look forward to seeing them being active in both their mind and bodies.
