  • Regional Journalism Conference for Myrtle Beach's Best and Brightest

    Funded Dec 19, 2018

    Thank you so much for your generous contribution to the students at Socastee High School in Myrtle Beach, SC. Because of your kind and generous donation, 6 of our students were able to take part in the Southern Interscholastic Journalism Conference in Columbia, South Carolina. The students had the opportunity to learn and network from various professionals in the field of journalism, as well as advisers and other students across the Southern region of the United States.

    For many of the students on the trip, it was the first and only trip they were able to take throughout their high school career because of a lack of funds. Your donation made it possible for my students to have an experience that they will never forget.

    Because of all of the great things my students learned at SIPA, the yearbook and newspaper program at our school shows promise for the future. Likewise, the trip helped to build relationships between the staff members, which helped to create a more positive staff culture--something we desperately needed to work on.
