Technology can be hard to come by at a city public school. But our students shouldn't suffer from budget restrictions just because of where they live. This is why I'm asking for a set of ten Chromebooks to be used in many different ways in my middle school English classroom.
With a set of Chromebooks to share, students will not only be able to type their essay assignments, but they will also benefit from the collaboration that is made easy through Google Classroom. My hope is that students will be able to share their essays with one another more efficiently and make comments for revisions. They will also be able to use various online tools to help them improve their writing, such as searching for mentor texts and grammar tools. Students who struggle with reading will be able to access audiobook versions of the novels and stories that we study in class. Students with disabilities who do not have full use of their motor skills will be able to utilize talk-to-text to write essays. English Language Learners will have access to online translators when they are stuck. The possibilities are endless! With these Chromebooks, my students will get a step ahead in a world where you need to be technology-literate to succeed.
