In kindergarten students learn to master math concepts by hands on math games and activities. In the beginning of the school year I will begin to build the foundation to promote financial literacy. Students are often excited about earning money through classroom jobs, but oftentimes do not understand the meaning of a dollar. In order to build upon financial literacy my students will first begin to learn how to identify the number and value of each number. The match and unlock game will allow my students to use the lock and key to match the number of objects to the correct number lock in order to open it. In order for students to be able to add and count their pretend money they will first practice with the pop and add addition game. The number begin game will help students recognize and build the matching set of objects to a number. In order to count money students will need to be able to quickly identify the number and be able to count out that much money to match it. Lastly the flip and solve addition an subtraction boards will allow my students to practice the important skill of adding and subtracting which is needed to build upon financial literacy. To my students money all seems to make "cents" but in order for them to truly master financial literacy, earnings, savings and spending we must start from the beginning! I am truly excited to embark on this financial literacy journey and I hope you all will join me on the adventure that will truly help my students learn the value of a dollar! Thanks in advance to all my future donors!
