  • Communication is Key to Learning!

    Funded Sep 21, 2020

Your gifts are going to be what directly links my students to their learning. The majority of my students spend their days struggling to hear what is going on in their classroom. Your generosity is going to enable their learning. I cannot thank you enough and look forward to seeing my students connected to their lessons online everyday!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Mount

  • Becoming Independent!

    Funded Jun 13, 2019

I cannot begin to explain what a difference you have made in my students' life. These resources help my students transition from one activity to the next with ease by placing the visual schedule in front of class. Additionally, the visual timer helps students during silent reading. The green light indicating there is still time left, yellow means time is almost up, and red means they can finish up with the activity. The label maker has benefited my entire classroom by helping them become independent and responsible. Every morning they know where to place finished homework and classwork because a tray is labeled and located where they can visually locate it.

I have noticed that my students have really enjoyed starting to become independent in the 4th grade with the use of these tools.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Mount

  • Think! Write! Inspire! Creative Writing Corner

    Funded Jun 7, 2018

I would like to extend my sincere thanks for donating to my classroom. The students have been using their writing journals daily. They now have bound paper to take notes on writing, planning creative writes, and much more. All of their ideas are in one place, easy to locate, and hard to lose!

They really took ownership of their journals by creating their own personalized cover. They are super cute and colorful now. They are also glad to have their own box to store materials. It's nice to see my students happy and have materials that other children have, but that my students might not have had if they had not received your donations. They deserve it!

We've already brainstormed and drafted a couple creative stories in our writing journals, and used the thesauruses to improve writing. They go back and use their writing notes as reminders. We'll be going back to our journal notes and thesauruses as we start writing to a class in Texas. I've found pen pals for them, and we can't wait to get started!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Mount

These materials will be instrumental in giving the students a sense of ownership over their creative writing journey. The students can carry all of their writing materials (colored pens, pencils, erasers, highlighters, editing/proofreading marks quick card) with them in the easy-view, clear pencil boxes. We are only provided by the district a brown lined newsprint, but these blossoming writers need spiral bound writing paper for all of their brainstorming, mapping, and drafting needs. This allows students easy access to all their creative thoughts, and really own their writing. Students love feeling that their work is compiled, and important! Since vocabulary is an area of needed growth with English language learners, and All students in general, a pack of thesauruses will become a staple in our new creative writing center. As part of the writing process, revising and partner revising involve looking for more specific and/or interesting words to switch out some of the more common words students use (nice, pretty, bad, good, etc.). This will make the stories come alive! I can't wait to read the final masterpieces that are created and published this year.
