Indoor Recess Equals Creativity
Funded Dec 7, 2018My students were so excited when we got our materials. They couldn't wait for a rainy day to come. Fortunately, they didn't have to wait long. The following day it was forecast to rain, and they were able to use the legos, marble runs, and Magna tiles. My students look forward to having indoor recess because it means they will be able to use the materials they love so much. I have been able to use the materials to motivate students that have a hard time completing their work. If they finish their work, they get to use the materials during class time. Most students finish their work so they can use the materials.
I can't thank you enough for choosing to fund my project. It means so much to my students and me.”

Funded Oct 18, 2017Thank you so much for your generous donation. So far we have read Personal Space Camp, Tease Monster, You, me and Empathy, We're all Wonders and My Mouth is a Volcano. I read a book throughout three days. Each day after I read a part of a book we discuss what the lesson the author wants the reader to know. So far students have learned about personal space, bullying, self-control, empathy and that we are all unique and special. Students have been able to make self to text connections and share these connections with the class. It has been incredible! After I finish reading a book I put it up on the read aloud shelf. Students have been checking these books out so much that they are beginning to get worn out. I love seeing my students reading these books that we have read and discuss as a class. All students have had the opportunity to have one of these books in their hands and read it on their own. My students look forward to reading these books. They are eager to know what book we will read and discuss next.”

Funded Dec 15, 2016Thank you for your contribution in making my project possible. My students have been loving the books we received. When we received the books my students wanted to start reading them immediately. My struggling students were especially excited to see that the books we received were at their reading levels. This made them feel special. The excitement I saw int their eyes made me want to take photos of them so I could share them with you. These books have allowed my students to stay engaged during reading time. In my classroom, we read everyday for 40 minutes independently. For some of my students this seems like an eternity because my classroom library had limited amount of books that my students were interested in. This behavior has started to change because of your help. I can't thank you enough for making this possible.”
