Math Is Fun
Funded Dec 23, 2010Thank you again for your donations. Your generous donation has provided my students with over a years worth of supplies. This already has had a huge impact on their creative minds. Math is much better with the use of Crayola markers, scissors, glue sticks, and construction paper. We have already completed a project using all of the supplies. The pictures that I attached are students creating a breakfast product and juice product out of rectangular prisms and cylinders. Students used the construction paper, scissors, and markers to help make their design more fun and attractive. Students calculated surface area and volume of these products to "sell" to their fellow colonist, as this project was an integrated project with humanities.
There will be so many other projects students will complete and have the ability to be rigorous yet creative using these supplies. Once again, your generosity will go a long way. This is such a worth while investment to societies future leaders.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Nuss

Funded Oct 6, 2010I am very grateful and excited for your donation to my project. I am glad to see that you value in teaching students math using manipulatives. My students received a deeper understanding from these tools and enjoy math even more now.
Thanks to your funding this helped my students to develop mathematical concepts by using hands-on activities. We explored the surface area and volume formulas using the foldable 3D shapes. We also used the algebra tiles to explore polynomials and use them more frequently thanks to the new ideas I will get in the activity book. The foam dice will help students to understand probability in future lessons.
There are so many opportunities to use these tools in our classroom. It is delightful to see students inquisitive working to discover concepts they may not have otherwise been curious about. Again, thank you so much, I can't wait to use these items in my classroom more and more.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Nuss
