If social study art lessons engage the middle school child and those at-risk to reconsider his/her attitude about school, then local/global lessons could help in understanding their share in the community in which they live. I believe art has this power! Help me in accomplishing this wish of inclusiveness and feeling part of a whole (community)! These art lesson resources - art paper, art utensils, and paint - will help students desire to learn through art while being part of something bigger than their middle school thoughts about struggle and existence. Their thoughts will gradually move to areas of the world where people are very similar to them but live with cultures different from their community.
