It is already challenging enough for 7-to 8-year-olds to be expected to remain seated and silent for about 7 hours a day. Couple that with their personal challenges, and it's a recipe for disaster in the classroom. Most of my students need a physical outlet in order to be able to move their bodies in non-disruptive ways that allow them to focus and stay on task. The wobble chairs used will offer my students a healthy physical outlet that supports student engagement, focus, and motivation; and diminish the discomforts of a hard plastic chair or floor.
Ever tried to teach a class with kiddos rolling around the floor or constantly getting out of their seats? With flexible seating, they will be able to channel all their energy while rocking on their wobble stools. Once their bodies are able to get the wiggles out, their minds can focus on what's really important. My students need wobble seats, yoga balls, bouncy bands, and other flexible seating options to help them channel their energy in a non-disruptive and positive way! This new movement towards flexible seating has been proven to be highly effective at supporting kiddos with these challenges.
