  • Spanish-English Texts to Support Newcomers

    Funded Feb 1, 2025

Thank you for making it possible for my classroom to have extra resources for my English language learner newcomer students. The flashcards will help them to learn everyday vocabulary. The dictionaries will help them to access a variety of curriculum. The TpT gift card will help me purchase additional activities for them as well, and the reading books will help them feel comfortable and welcome.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Jimenez

  • Chair and Pens

    Funded May 7, 2024

Students are loving the new chair! They get to use it when they are student of the week. They get to sit at the front of the class and give a show and tell. Then they get to answer class questions. They also receive a paper of class compliments during student of the week that their classmates have written.

When they are student of the week, they also get to use the special pens! They can use these during class in their notebook or use it to write their names on assignments. It's the little things that really help them take the week to the next level!”

  • Props and Costumes

    Funded Feb 18, 2024

My students used the costumes and props to put on a play, called "Character Matters" by the Bad Wolf Press. The play ran about 1 hour, and had several skits and songs.

Fairy tale creatures and characters discussed moral lessons, and the students loved playing these roles! The costumes helped the students get into character, give them confidence in the stage, and be enthusiastic!

I know this play experience will stay with them for a long time! It was such an amazing learning experience and I know families enjoyed seeing their children in the play as well!”

  • Art Supplies

    Funded Sep 11, 2023

My fourth and fifth grade students were very excited to see the new art supplies that arrived at our classroom, which also brought the opportunity to complete more art projects! We had done some watercolor castles, pastel snowmen, and various marker-based projects as well. It is exciting to see the students get to be creative and expressive. They enjoy using the quality art materials. The high quality feels special to the students and they show that by treating the materials with utmost respect and care.”

  • These Books Are Lit (Circles)

    Funded Jan 26, 2023

My students are loving their Lit Circles! They are being exposed to books they may not have heard of before and are loving it! They look forward to Fridays when they get to meet with their group, and are always asking me if we can have some reading time during class so they can read more of their book.

It is so neat to see them so excited about reading! At the end of each round (about 4 weeks), they complete a creative book report that may take the form of a board game, a diorama, a crossword, or an original book jacket. It is fun to see them interpret the novels using their creative side!

Thank you for making this possible! I can't wait to continue using these books for years to come!”

  • "Walk Two Moons" Class Novel Set

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

My students are very excited to have the opportunity to complete this novel study as a class. Often times, students cite our whole class novel as their favorite books, as it comes alive through our discussions and activities. We do whole group reading, small group reading, and a variety of partner and independent activities to help students comprehend and appreciate this beautiful text. This book, "Walk Two Moons" by Sharon Creech, is so heartwarming and deals with complex emotions that adolescents often feel alone in facing. Thank you for giving my students this opportunity!”

  • "The Giver" Class Novel Set

    Funded Aug 23, 2022

We are wrapping up our novel study of "The Giver," and it has been a student favorite! Students were engaged, and even on the edges of their seat as they enjoyed all the shocking twists that the book offers.

Throughout the novel, we focused on a variety of skills. We learned what utopias and dystopias are, and cited evidence to support our claim about which one we thought Jonas's community is.

We identified character traits and how Lois Lowry developed those through the characters' actions and dialogue. We analyzed how characters change throughout the course of the plot, and the forces that cause these changes.

Finally, we discussed what themes were present, and what morals or food-for-thought the author hopes readers will walk away with.

Thank you for allowing my students the opportunity to experience this exciting novel study. I will continue to use this novel set for years to come!”

  • Tracing Boxes for Art

    Funded May 3, 2022

My students were very excited to see the tracing boards! My favorite project that we used them for (so far) were botanical drawings.

The students started by using seed catalogs to draw flowers and leafs by hand. Once they were happy with their drawings, they used the lightboxes to trace their drawings and layer them in a realistic way. Afterwards, we outlined the flowers with oil pastels and added watercolor to fill in.

These turned out so beautiful, stunning really! I loved that we used the light boxes to trace their own drawings so that it was authentically unique to each student. Thank you for helping make this possible!”

  • STEAMing It Up!

    Funded Apr 8, 2022

My students loved getting to use all of the supplies you helped us get for STEAM projects. One of the favorites of the year was to build a cardboard arcade game! We watched "Cain's Arcade" as inspiration, and I have never seen my students light up as much as they did for this project. At the end of the year, several students listed this & our other STEAM projects as one of their favorite memories from the year.

Students came up with very creative ideas that used simple machines. Some used string and magnets, others used straws as pinball levers. We had some initial planning time, followed by building and refining time. Finally, we had an "Arcade Day" where they got to visit each others' creations. It was phenomenal.

Thank you for making this possible!!”

  • All STEAM ahead!

    Funded Feb 5, 2022

My students were so excited to see the new STEAM supplies! They immediately had several ideas for Maker Challenges we could start with. So far, the students have created sculptures, functioning traps, and arcade games. I enjoy seeing the way the students persevere through their failures and try different approaches to making their visions come to life. They have shown so much growth in their flexibility and out-of-the-box thinking already. They look forward to our Maker challenge time, and have blossomed in their creativity! Thank you for making this possible!”

My students will get an opportunity to experience authentic exploration of the natural world, such as identifying local plant and animal relationships, ecology, and human impact on the environment. They will be surrounded by nature, in a "classroom" made of soaring redwoods and pond banks, having the chance to fall in love with the beauty and freedom of a dirt hiking trail. These experiences will inspire them to become conscientious stewards and guardians of Earth's natural resources. They will connect with each other and themselves during their last year of elementary school, making an investment in the childlike wonder that will ground them and build a foundation of true character as they prepare for the challenges of middle school.
