If my project is funded, I will be able to build literacy and fine motor skill centers to engage students in differentiated learning activities based on their individual needs. I want them to achieve this through engaging and rigorous activities that can be customized for all learners. The supplies I am seeking will meet the needs of ALL of my students by engaging them in learning through interactive and interesting small group instruction and centers. Fine motor skill centers will engage young learners with interactive activities. Students will lace alphabetical and numerical beads onto pipe cleaners to increase fine motor skills. They will link letter cubes to support word building and fine motor skills. Students will work with written number identification, colors, or both by transferring pom poms with educational tweezers from one cup to another with their dominant hand. Students will practice life skills such as tying and buckling to increase fine motor skills, so I have included supplies for a center that assists in dressing themselves while building strong writing muscles! I have included organizational materials for centers that I will print such as zipper pencil pouches that are color-coded for different levels. Materials such as magnetic whiteboards, pocket charts, and alphabetical magnets will ensure I am meeting all students' needs in literacy through mini-lessons and intervention. Word building with magnets is engaging for students, and whiteboard puzzle pieces can be used to build CVC words or short sentences. Centers with pencil boxes and sand are both engaging and dynamic for kinesthetic learners. Every material was chosen to have multiple uses and to grow with my kindergartners throughout the year. Thank you!
