Capturing the World: Photojournalism and Photography in the Classroom
Funded Feb 19, 2019Thank You so much for the donations toward the professional camera. They have been a blessing in the classroom. I am happy to report that because of access to this technology the AP Studio art portfolios were a success. Out of the 19 students that entered a portfolio, 100% percent passed. Most of the scores were 4's and 5's. This gives my students a minimum of 57 hours of paid college credit. With some colleges giving scores of 4 and 5, 6 hours instead of 3 are awarded. The FH student's scores account for 20% of the passing scores in the state of Mississippi.
The camera has been used during in class projects, to photograph student artwork, and even made a trip to Boston with a student who was accepting a national art award. She was then able to use those pictures in her AP portfolio. Instead of using cell phones, these students are getting the opportunity to learn a skill that can be used later in life.
Thank you again for your donation. With this, the students have been able to really "Capture the World" around them.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Moore-Edwards

Funded Nov 21, 2018Thank You so much for the donations toward our Digital Tablets. They have been a blessing in the classroom. The access to technology and tablets has let the students explore their creativity and bring a level of professionalism to their work. We also were able to use the equipment during a workshop at the MS Museum of Art with local artist, Ginger Williams-Cook, where she taught them digital drawing and digital painting. Editing their work on the tablet was also a skill that appealed to the students.
Some of my younger students have really embraced this technology as a way to create their animation, video games, and create art in a style that is usually done by hand due to the cost of tablets.
Thank You again for your support.”
