These books and resources will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I have strived to create within my first year of teaching fifth grade. My classroom reading dugout is a place that my students really enjoy. I read on the carpet to them, they complete work there, and they read independently, with a partner, and within a literature circle group. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind. I have watched them the past few weeks of school read titles just like these, and I have also conferred with asked them what type of books they would enjoy reading, along with seeking parent input of books that their child enjoys reading. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time. With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently and in a book club at their own grade level. They will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only continue to help support and enrich their experiences this year!
