New Views in Reading and Math

Thank you for your contribution in helping me obtain some of the most useful resources for my students in reading, writing, and mathematics. Your donations went to reading and writing resource books from the Heinmann Publishing company which is a leader in reading and writing instruction. Since I utilize the Lucy Calkins Units of Study in Reading and Writing, I have to confer and meet with my students in a one on one setting on a daily basis. Upon receiving my materials at the end of the 2018-2019 school year, I was able to plan instruction over the summer and utilize these books during the week long, online webinar with the author Jennifer Servano. Having these materials helped me prepare for reading and writing instruction for the current school year.

If you were to walk in my classroom during reading or writing instruction, you would see a whole group lesson followed by students going out into the classroom to choose their designated spot to read their independent book. Once readers have had a chance to read, I go and have a conference with the student about their reading and help them set goals, provide a new strategy to help them obtain greater goals for their individual selves. The conference book provided me with information about the seven different types of conferences to have with students. The Reading and Writing Strategy books have over 300 strategies with anchor charts to provide students with the strategies they need to practice to reach their individual goals. I also use these resources when I meet with strategy groups or guided reading groups. My students have never been this excited or attempted to write so well about reading had it not been for your generous donation to fund this project I wouldn't be able to provide them with the resources they need. These books truly help drive my instruction on a daily basis.
