Kinesthetic Learning With Sand Trays!
Funded Apr 8, 2021In an effort to include more kinesthetic learning that would increase memory in my readers, I requested these sand trays. First of all, the students absolutely love them! They really look forward to using these and really make learning more fun for them. I have seen such a shift in actually enjoying learning about letters and sounds. I just makes it more fun for them! Anything that makes learning feel like playing is a win in my book! Thank you so much for your generosity. We use these several times a week, so please know that your generous donation is one that is used often and is very much appreciated!”

Funded Dec 2, 2020These magnetic letters and letter trays are great! My Kindergarten and first grade students have gotten to use these already and will be used for many years to come! I appreciate having individual trays for letters. In a time where materials have to be cleaned and sanitized often, it makes life so much easier to have individual sets for students! We are using these letters to read words, spell words, and work on learning the sounds associated with letters.
Thank you for your very generous gift. It is much appreciated!”

A Space to Call Their Own
Funded Dec 2, 2020My Kindergarten and first grade students just love the new tables and chairs! They feel like they have their own little office when they come to read with me! They are the perfect size and are easy for me to clean several times throughout the day. When they first saw the new tables and chairs, they were overjoyed! It has really made a difference in helping me practice social distancing. It's not always easy when working with young children, so this gift is much appreciated! Thank you again for your kind and very generous donation!”

Funded Dec 2, 2020Thank you so much for helping me to create an organized space for learning! I have used the wood and fabric containers to organize students' books and materials that we use each day. Students are easily able to access what they need and are able to return things easily and quickly. My kindergarten and first grade students seem to really enjoy learning in a place that is neat and tidy. During a time where things are so chaotic and unexpected in our world, I know they value an environment that feels safe and reminds them of home.
I truly appreciate your generous donation!”

Funded Oct 22, 2020Thank you for your very kind donations! I have used these new resources to create an organized, tidy space for learning. My students LOVE having their own materials, and the clear poly envelopes make it so easy for them to access what they need! These envelopes currently hold journals, books, pencils, markers, and other items that I need to keep individualized for them. I am currently working on getting individual magnetic letter trays since those are not easy to keep clean when shared between students. During this time of constant cleaning and sanitizing, I feel that parents would feel at ease knowing their child is not using shared materials. I truly appreciate your generosity. Please know that these items are being used daily and really help as we continue to learn how to best meet the needs of learners as we navigate our "new normal."”

Fixer Upper, a Cozy Reading Space
Funded Oct 9, 2019I just love this area rug, but even more importantly the students love it! They think it's great to have a comfy spot on the floor to read, do word games, or write. I even heard one of my students say, "Wow, sight words are amazing on the carpet! I just love this!" I can honestly say I have never heard a child say that practicing sight words was amazing! I am so appreciative of your support in my quest to create a cozy reading space where my at-risk readers feel comfortable and at home. I feel very blessed!”

Learning to Read is Fun with Pete the Cat!
Funded Dec 30, 2018I want to thank you for your donation to this project. I can't explain how much my students love Pete the Cat! The musical "pop goes the weasel" box where Pete pops out has been a huge hit. I have been able to use that as motivation to work hard in our reading groups and it really works! I really wish I could post a video of the kids laughing every time Pete pops out. It is just precious! Please know that your donation has already brought many smiles to my kindergarten and first grade students. I really appreciate your generosity!”

Funded Dec 21, 2018Thank you for your very generous donations! My reading space is really starting to look cozy and inviting for my students. They noticed the changes right away, and they especially love the gray stools. They thought it was super cool to have these instead of regular "school" chairs. The baskets and felt board also help to make it feel a little more like home. I truly appreciate you helping me to create a cozy, safe space where my often reluctant kindergarten and first grade learners come to get extra help each day.”

Light Up Those Letters!
Funded Dec 21, 2018Thank you again for this fun LED light up board! My students are having a great time practicing all kinds of writing, and that isn't always easy! They find it very motivating to practice high frequency words with a marker of their choice, then getting to make it light up is icing on the cake! They come in almost every day asking if they can do the light up board. I often use it as motivation to work hard and do their best and it definitely works. I am so happy and thankful for this light up board. I wish I could have posted a video of the kids first using it....pure joy! I so appreciate your generosity. Please know that your donation went toward something that truly helps children enjoy learning. Thank you!”

Funded Sep 7, 2018Thank you again for your kind donation. I will be using these books with my kindergarten and first grade at-risk readers. They will be learning how to problem-solve tricky words in text, using visual information, the meaning of the story, and the structure of the language. Interesting pictures and stories make this task a little easier and certainly more fun for emergent readers.
In my classroom, students are working in a one on one setting or in a small group. I meet with some students daily and others a few times a week. I will be sending these books home with the children so they can also be enjoyed together as a family at home. Parents really enjoy and value this home/school connection.
The kids are already enjoying the new books. "My Book" has already become a favorite! I have also gotten to use "Hedgehog is Hungry" and "Sally and the Leaves" with my first graders. I recently received my second box of books and my students were so excited to take them home to share with their families.
Your generosity is so appreciated! Please know that these books will be enjoyed by young readers for many years to come!”
