Lets Make Learning Comfortable!
Funded Dec 4, 2023With many different types of learners, I have been struggling to figure out a way to keep the students engaged during learning time. Allowing student flexible seating options has shown me an increase in their attention to completing their work during these centers.
The joy on my students faces when they came into the classroom and found many different and colorful seating choices was priceless. Each student asked me when they could use the new seats and if they could change their seats every so often. I am overjoyed with how easy centers are to some students who may have been having a hard time focusing.
Students use the new seating options at the teacher table as well as the rug. During centers students get to choose a new chair at the teacher table. These chairs help the students with sitting up straight and not being able to rock back and forth which helps with their concentration. On the rug the students get to use the lower chairs while book looking or playing an educational math/ELA game. Students have really taken a liking to the chairs and tell me how much they love them each day. Thank you so much for providing this joy for my students!”

Funded Sep 28, 2020The Kindergarten team wants to thank each and every one of you from the bottom of our hearts for donating! We took time to fill in each binder for the students with folders in four subject areas. We got to send home manipulatives, dry erase markers, erasers, pointer fingers for reading and more in the clear pencil case for hands on learning. Although students cannot learn in the classroom with us this year, these binders have helped make learning fun and hands on at home! The excitement on each child's face when they received their binder made all of us happy teachers! I wanted to thank you again for your generous donations to our happy little kindergarten students!!”

Funded Apr 7, 2020I wanted to thank everyone who donated to my math manipulatives project. Although my students are not in person this year, I look forward to using these manipulatives as soon as students return. When my students return to in person learning I would like to use the manipulatives for different activities such as small group centers, whole group lessons where they can manipulate the activity as we are learning and one on one instruction for students who need extra support. I look forward to using these materials with my students to foster their learning and create new experiences for each child. Thank you again for supporting me and my love for hands on teaching and learning!”

Reading/Calming Corner
Funded Dec 31, 2019This has been one of my favorite spaces that is utilized in my classroom. Students get to use this space for reading time, book buddies and when they need a break from stress in their life. Students always want to take a turn using what they call the "fun chairs". The orange colors bring a bright happy feel to our room. We utilize the rug as well and they feel more at home relaxing in an area they know they do not have to worry about their lives outside of school. One student even told me this was his favorite spot to go in every morning because it makes him feel like he has a special place in the classroom just for him. He told me he does not have that at home. Moments like this make teaching more meaningful!!!”

Headphones For iPads!
Funded Jul 12, 2019Technology has become a big part of the school systems. Our class uses ipads, computers and smartboards many times a week. At times it can be a great tool for learning and experiencing new skills but other times it hinders student learning. The time off task fixing headphones, worrying about which plug is broken or who cannot hear has been a struggle in kindergarten. With the use of the new headphones we do not need to worry about the constant distractions. The students simply turn on the headphones and get right to work learning the skills they need while other students get to work silently with no bother. I am so thankful for a quiet (quieter) room during centers. The students appreciate it as well as myself teaching other students during this time. Thank you so much for your help and wonderful donation!”

STEM Science Materials
Funded Apr 24, 2019This year the students have been loving the STEM based learning materials. They do not even realize they are learning when they are using fun manipulatives. They call these activities the "science games". I have never had so many students ask me if we can play with the science games. Students get to experience a hands on approach to science. There has been many mistakes made when trying come up with a plan, which in turn allows them to really learn the correct solution. I will continue to use these activities with this class and every class in the future to extend their learning and allow science to be fun! I thank you again for everything you have done for both me and my students!!”
