These books will help establish a high-interest classroom library for my students. One feature of this book collection is that it includes every book that was nominated for a Mark Twain Readers Award for 2021. The purpose of the Mark Twain Award is to provide children of Missouri with a recommended reading list of literature that will enrich their lives. The winner of the Mark Twain Readers Award is selected annually by students in grades four through six. These books are powerful and student-selected as the best. My goal is to help students love reading in order to become lifelong readers and learners. Students will have daily opportunities to read their own self-selected books. I will add extra incentive and improve learning outcomes by offering motivation with awards for students who read 6 Mark Twain nominees and improve student comprehension of books by taking Scholastic Reading Counts quizzes after finishing books. Students will track their own reading progress, and we will celebrate successes with book. Reading in my classroom will be encouraged, discussed, and joyously celebrated. I also wanted an interactive globe so students can add context and "go places" with reading when they are reading about different cultures. I have noticed that my students do not have a lot of geographical background knowledge yet, and I would like to improve upon that with them. Please consider helping this wonderful group of 4th graders have quality reading material that is easily accessible in their lives. It will really make a difference for them! Thank you so much!
