Especially in first grade, listening to fluent reading is a critical part of becoming a reader. During our reading centers, students will be able to listen to their favorite stories. Owning a listening center for students will be critical in their development as readers who not only read but love to do so! Every student in my class will have an equal opportunity. This center will help students practice listening skills that are critical for their development as readers. My students who are still working on letter sounds and my beginning readers can work together at a center to listen and respond to fluent reading examples.
