The materials I am asking for in this project will provide the students in my TLC classroom with the ability to focus during learning.
Feeling safe and being able to focus are critical to a students success and these items in my project will help establish this environment from day one.
Many of the students come from homes that don't always have the ability to provide personal headphones for students and having them available within our own learning environment will allow the students to focus on their individual work. Having snacks available when some students show up without having eaten breakfast or late in the day, will increase their focus and feeling of safety knowing that they have an option. The sensory items I have included will help calm and descalate students when they are feeling anxious. Headphones will support students during invidual work time, to give them a place to escape other student distractions. Other items, pencils, markers, etc., will allow students to complete daily work without the worry of not having supplies. Iwant my students to not be afraid to ask for things they need and having these things available will be critical to the foundation of the TLC learning environment.
