I serve middle school Special Education students in Ward 7, Washington DC. My students have educational disabilities that prevent them from accessing the general education space. The majority of my students either have behavior difficulties or difficulties expressing unpreferred emotions. My work with them helps them grow emotionally and ultimately helps them in school and outside of school. I have been doing this work for many years and over the years I have learned that at the basic level, all students want and need to feel safe. I help them express themselves in healthy and meaningful ways.
