Our whole group learning area of the classroom is where we spend the majority of our day. In this area of the classroom I teacher calendar, number sense, English Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and read to my students. A classroom carpet allows my students to focus on their learning and make the choices that work best for them in terms of seating arrangements. Currently my students are sitting on the floor in a large group. A classroom carpet will provide students the boundaries they need to participate in collaborative learning such as Think-Pair-Share or Turn and Talk activities. My students are noticeably more engaged during whole group and partner activities and less disruptive of their classmates when they can visualize their seating boundaries provided on a classroom carpet. The carpet that I have selected will help my students by giving them a seating option to make effective learning choices. The carpet has twenty-six lettered squares and additional four blank colored squares that will allow each student to sit on a square of their choice during whole group learning. The carpet will allow students to focus on learning and interacting positively with their peers.
