The use of dictionaries is a part of our everyday classroom activities. I teach a writing class, and strong vocabulary words is something that we continuously focus on. Most students in the community do not have a large vocabulary, therefore they rely on dictionaries/thesauruses to enhance their vocabulary. In addition to, most students have never used a dictionary in their previous academic careers, so when they reach 7th grade they are confused as to how to use one. Before my students progress to the next grade, I want them to utilize all of their resources in order to become greater writers and students.
