I requested different size marbles and various duct tapes so my students can design, build, and test “marble runs.” I would also request origami paper in all colors and sizes for additional experimentation and small motor function support in lower grades. These materials will enable my students to collaboratively design innovative engineering projects and test out their theories. Multiple uses will enable my student to actively and collaboratively hypothesize, research, construct, and test out the validity of their experiment. Utilizing varied materials will enable them to work in a STEM rich environment that will enhance their cognitive abilities they are otherwise not able to experience. This Maker Space lab will be part of the Media Center and will additionally support all the classroom teachers at my school to enrich their science, math and technology lessons to motivate and excite student learning.
