    I get excited to show my many Spanish speaking middle schoolers the books that was purchased for us. I love seeing the eyes light up and their smiles when they see books that they can read in their native language. It is incredible and makes me proud that I am providing books that they probably thought they would not get in school.

    I want to say the best thing is when students come in to the library looking for other Spanish language books; bringing friends or even siblings in to show them the books; or even providing me with a book request. I had a young 6th grader wanting to know if I could get a book his mother wants to read! And that is a win in my book!”

  • They Don't Wanna Read Books, but, They Will Read Manga!

    Talk about excitement when I started to receive the Amazon boxes with new manga books. My library aides where in the library when I opened the boxes and before the day was over, I had several other students asking about the new manga books.

    Through word of mouth and seeing others reading the books, students are coming in to look for the new books. My students are excited and eager to read them. It is a badge of honor to be the 1st to read any of the books.

    It also excites me to see kids enthused to read books. I realize that a lot of teachers, parents, or other adults feel that manga or comic books is not 'real' reading material, but I disagree. Let kids have their fun books to read and they will learn to enjoy reading!n
