A makerspace is a way for the students to create, invent, explore and discover using a variety of tools and materials. I want the library to be a learning center where they can develop not only a love for reading, but also a love for learning. I feel a makerspace will help me achieve the goal. The supplies I requested would be used in the makerspace section of the library for the students to be creative and imaginative. The students would be able to use the Keva planks to build bridges, K'Nex to build robot, dominoes for fractions, and stacker pegs to create towers and buildings after reading STEM challenge cards. I believe it will help my students in many ways. Not only will it help them become better readers as they read the task, but it will help them become critical thinkers as they try to problem solve. The students will be actively involved in learning instead of just passively listening. My goal is for them to be more imaginative and eager to discover what is around them. I also hope it will help them solve real world problems.
