The Code Red Math Escape Room project will afford over 125 students in my classes with the opportunity to build positive collaborative social skills all while learning and developing new math skills. As a teacher in a Title 1 school, my students often come from communities where gun violence, gang activity and domestic violence are norms. As a result many of my students lack the necessary social skills to work in cooperative groups. With proper planning and resources the Code Red Math Escape Room project will encourage and educate these students on the importance of working together for the greater good. This essential skill can provide a positive outcome that can lead to positive change for their families and communities.
