Hands-on Learning Lab Supplies
Funded Mar 1, 2012Thank you so much for the lab supplies on endothermic and exotothermic reactions. My student read the lab information and completed the labs. It really helped them to understand the difference between the two as well as feel the release and absorption of energy in a chemical reaction. The lab materials allowed for the students to learn through experience and construct their own knowledge rather then just being told.
As the future of education changes we need to prepare students for the next generation of learning and the work force. These 21st century skills are important to prepare our students for the future. thank you for helping me prepare our students through a hands-on inquiry activity.”

Chemistry: Seeing the Atoms
Funded Dec 13, 2011Thank you so much for the lab supplies for my class. Chemistry is such a hard idea to grasp and the supplies have helped my students to really understand what makes up an atom. The magnetic atom board has been a great tool both in my instruction of the material as well as for student review of the material. the ability for them to see the different energy levels was key. As we move into chemical reactions I look forward to using the endothermic and exothermic reactions kits to have my students really feel the differences.”

Views and Photos of the Planets-Astronomy
Funded Mar 4, 2011I wanted to take a moment to tell you how important your donation was to my students and their education. We offered several astronomy nights at out rural school to look at the stars and other celestial bodies. I was impressed at how many students took advantage of this opportunity. My students that have an interest in a career in science were inspired even more by the experiences. My students that may not think of science as their best subject were inspired to learn more by the experience. I could not have asked for a more inspirational experience.
In addition to seeing the stars my students were impressed as they learned how computer program in the telescope allowed for the telescope to find the items we were looking at.
Many of the students took the experience and incorporated it into their final project which was a lesson plan for 4th grade students. They did this by describing what they saw, using their understanding of how the telescope worked and photographs from the experience.
Thanks again for helping me to inspire my students.”

Mapping the Scientific Data to Help Defend Our Hypothesis
Funded Nov 11, 2010I wanted to express my gratitude for your donations. The GPS unit was an incredible tool to help challenge my students and take them to the next level of science and technology. They enjoyed using the technology and it helped to organize their evidence and their presentation of their evidence. For many of my students the simple addition of technology helped to get them more motivated and invested in learning all of the material. For those that are typically motivated it allowed them to take their learning to the next level. Many of my students combined the information from the GPS unit with Google maps to create a great visual representation of their data.
Thank you so much for providing my students with this item that would have not otherwise fit into the school budget. We will be using the GPS unit again in future Geology units as well as our water quality study. It will affect the lives of students for years.”
