Special Education Success!
Funded Nov 18, 2023My students love the new educational materials! They could not believe all of the wonderful supplies we received when we opened up the boxes together. Seeing the excitement on their faces was priceless. They oohed and awed each time a new box was emptied.
The resources have helped them academically and socially this school year. The variety of resources that we graciously received allow for different presentation styles to be delivered during instruction. Because they are special education students, they thrive when materials can be used in multiple ways. The kids learn best when they have lessons that are visual, auditory, tactile, and kinesthetic.
Thank you for helping me help my students!”

Funded Oct 21, 2022Crafty Conversations has given my class the opportunity to relax, chat, and create after Hurricane Ian. We have made several crafts this holiday season. In the fall, we created leaf wreaths to share with family and friends over Thanksgiving Break. The kids adored the colorful leaves in the kits. For Christmas, we made Gingerbread ornaments and decorated Christmas wreaths with all sorts of glittery ornaments, bells, and ribbons. When we worked on the holiday crafts we shared our plans for over the break and sang Christmas songs.
When the boxes arrived the kids were ecstatic. They arrived one afternoon after school and I stacked them all up on the table for them to see the next morning. Opening the boxes was like Christmas morning for the students. We passed each package around the room so that each child could see what was so generously donated to our classroom.
This week is Literacy Week at our school. We have decided to invite our first grade reading buddies up to our room to read books related to winter and create snowflake bookmarks. Seeing the "big kids" creating and conversing with the "little kids" is always priceless. I can't wait to show them all the glittering snowflake stickers, colorful foam bookmarks, and ribbons they will get to use. Thank you for your donations that have made all of our Crafty Conversations possible!”

Funded Oct 17, 2022The use of headphones has greatly helped my students when they are working on their daily online lessons and assessments. Many of my students have learning disabilities and have oral presentation, meaning they often get things read to them, on their IEP's (individualized education plan). Due to their disabilities, they learn better when things are read-a-loud to them. Having headphones allows them to have text presented orally which helps them to learn.
Being able to have their own pair of headphones was exciting for the students. Many times we would not have enough pairs to use in class. When the two huge boxes arrived they couldn't wait to open them. They were quickly taken out of their individual boxes and examined. The kids commented on the color and how comfortable they were to wear. We decided on a perfect spot in the room and then arranged them on hooks. We then labeled each hook and pair of headphones with their classroom number. Each student has a class number, so they will know which pair is theirs to use.
Many students lost their school supplies during Hurricane Ian. Several students are displaced and can not return to their homes because they were unsafe. I have seen an improvement with their concentration when they are able to use these headphones. Everyday they work on their laptops to complete lessons and tests. We are so thankful that your generosity has helped us focus and succeed this school year!”
