The Leo Club provides scholars with opportunities to engage in the school and community while focusing on Leadership, Opportunity, and Experience. Students learn how to be good community citizens through participating in leadership workshops, exploring career opportunities, engaging in community service projects, and serving as mentors to other students in the district. This request for an sewing/embroidery machine and supplies will assist students in building leadership skills through fundraising and volunteer activities. Stress Management - Students live in a fast-paced world attached to their technology. While sewing, your mind is completely involved in your project and your concentration is focused on your stitches, clearing your mind from any stress. Resourcefulness - Being able to sew teaches students that they can make their own clothing to fit their figure and style better. Also, they learn that they can use materials right at home to sew a homemade gift. Confidence - Completing a sewing project from start to finish fosters a sense of accomplishment, which helps boost self-confidence. Creativity - Learning to sew increases students’ ability to draw on their creativity. Students are able to express their creative side by designing a sewing project of their choice. Patience and Perseverance - Students always run into obstacles and will do so when learning to sew. Despite these difficulties, students learn to stay patient and work through challenges. Problem-Solving - Beginners at sewing are bound to make mistakes. Sewing promotes independent problem-solving; students learn to look at a stitch gone awry or a misplaced pattern and determine the path forward.
