As a first year teacher, I do not have a lot of supplies. There are so many times this year when I couldn't do what I wanted to do with my reading and math groups because I didn't have the supplies. I do a lot of differentiation in my class, which means while I'm meeting with group, other groups are working at specific centers around the room in either math, reading, or writing.
In fourth grade we focus heavily on adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing multi-digit numbers. The dice in my project would help students stay engaged in their center work by making their math assignments fun! Dice can be used across all standards in math. I plan on using them during my math centers for engaging partner, group, and independent activities.
As I've said, differentiation is at the center of my classroom. During my guided reading I have several groups that have designated centers to go to. Throughout the week, groups will rotate through centers on our Chromebooks that are shared with the other three classrooms in our pod. The websites that my students use during our reading centers require headphones, and a large number of the headphones we shared with the other classes are often not available when we need them or are broken. The headphones and pocket chart would be used for just this purpose! I would like each student to have their own pair of headphones and designated home.
To go along with my guided reading and math groups, I would like to have fun seating with these stools! A little touch of color and something different can make learning just a little more exciting! The rolling cart would be used to organize materials for differentiation and make it easy for students to find their materials!
