My first grade class is a group of inspiring students, most of whom come from economically disadvantaged and minority backgrounds. In spite of the challenges they face both in and out of school, they come each day excited to learn. For many of them, their favorite part of our room is the library - a cozy, carpeted corner near the window with colorful posters and comfy pillows. They often beg to go into the reading area to choose their own books, lacking the same resources at home.
