My students need Codesters Full Curriculum Bundle and Little Bits Code Kit to take their coding knowledge into practical application. This project is for my Coding II class at Breaux Bridge Junior High. These students have spent the last school year in Intro to Technology & Coding as their elective class. They have learned the basics of block coding through Google's CS First units, which are partnered with Scratch online coding software. These are units that not only developed their coding skills, but also led to great development in their creativity and problem-solving skills, as they had to create visually appealing and complex projects and figure out how to create them with basic instructions from the program. They have become confident enough in their coding abilities to try a more advanced platform with Coding II in the 2018-2019 school year.
In Coding II, I hope--and the students hope for the chance--to work with robotics and create a Maker Space setting for the students. My wish is that this will guide them towards a greater involvement and interest in STEAM activities outside of class and, potentially, careers further into the future.
