My students and my favorite time is PLAY TIME! We love learning through play in our classroom. However, because we play so much- we go through toys so much!
We are in need of new toys to help us learn and play throughout our days! My students would benefit greatly from having large magnetic tiles to build with. Their engineering skills would be put to great use as they built them. Dress up career clothes and and a station to keep them in would motivate my students to use dramatic play as ways to build communication and social skills. A large play mat to use while playing with wooden trains and cars, plush animals, and "play people" with different abilities would provide my students with roads to race their cars on and create lands of their own using their imaginations. Art supplies such as paint daubers, crayons, pom poms, pipe cleaners, wiggly eyes, and markers would bulk up our art station for their creative play time. Manipulatives like counters, wands, tweezers, and chips would benefit my students while learning counting skills. In addition to the playtime resources, having two new self-awareness books with activities in it would be used to help my students understand themselves and their needs better. "Pete the Cat" and "Spin the Pizza" games would be great ways for the kids to learn how to play together and learn how to take turns.
As the year comes to a close, I love to have a beach party to celebrate all of their successful learning throughout our school year! Having beach balls and sunglasses would be so exciting for them and be a great way to end our year!
