The MacBook will be used for in-person and remote learning to deliver presentations and lessons. A beginning of the year computerized diagnostic test will be administered in reading and math. Students will be working to bridge learning gaps in reading comprehension, and math word problem-solving. As a supplement to the district’s grade level programs, after each reading and math lesson, my students will strengthen and extend their understanding of the specified standard by using the computer-based LexiaCore 5 program and also the I-Ready program. Because these interactive learning platforms are designed to identify and address weak areas, I will use them to set my students up with individual educational plans, which will include scaffolded instruction. Students will take ownership of their learning goals by tracking, monitoring, and recording their own progress and receiving immediate results and feedback. Every increasing step (no matter how small) towards identified goals will be celebrated. In addition, this laptop will provide for the following: interactive visuals, videos, multimedia in all academic areas. As well as digital field trips, educational games, online activities, and a shared online classroom calendar. This is a milestone year for literacy and math. Students make the transition from "learning to read" to "reading to learn" and in math, they are learning word problem-solving. The use of technology will help prevent or bridge any learning gaps.
