I am submitting this project in the hopes that my students will be able to acquire a library full of leveled guided reading texts. I believe it is essential for them to get their hands on as many different texts as possible in order to help them become better readers. I chose Scholastic texts and BOB books due to their ability to stay usable over a long period of time. I am asking for a Guided Science Readers Super Set to help integrate science more easily into my literacy curriculum. I teach at an IB school, meaning I have to use science and social studies in every content area, and these science readers will help me do that. This is also the reason I chose the Guided Science Readers Parent Packs levels A-D. I chose the Folk and Fairy Tale Easy Readers to help my students understand the different genres of text, another task made easier by having more on grade level text. I want my students to be able to have books to read both in the classroom and to take home so that they get as much exposure to literature as possible. I say this because I am asking for quite a plethora of texts. Nonfiction Sight Word Readers and Little Leveled Readers are perfect to send home with my students so that students can work with their parents. I just want to ensure that my students have enough available text to last them throughout the year while changing the books they are reading frequently and allowing them to keep multiple books at their side. I firmly believe that attaining a leveled guided reading library for my classroom will help all of my students reach their expected reading level by the end of the year!
