Thank you for your donation for this Listening Center. I am so grateful that you took the time to look and help to fund this project for my students. People caring for others is what makes this place a better place to be and gives hope for a future. The students are able to share the stories without needing teacher input. They can read individually or with two, three or more. It is great to see them choose this center and enjoy the books with better understanding of the context than simply interpreting the pictures. It truly helps strengthen their independence.”

Books are an avenue to a whole new world of experiences. My students could listen to stories to become better active listeners. Books also teach a lot. These things are paramount to a child success in later life. In this listening center, sometimes I will choose the book. It may be based on a theme or a current area of interest. The students would increase their comprehension and understanding based on the book selection. Sometimes, the students will be able to go and choose their own books. Of course, if they are allowed to decide on the book choice, the desire to read could be increased. I truly believe a book center would be beneficial to all. Being able to listen to the book with the headphones would allow the student(s) to enjoy without interrupting all the other happenings in the room. I would, at the same time, allow the student to delve into the book uninterrupted.
