Standing Work Stations
Funded Jun 3, 2018I cannot begin to find the right words to express the gratitude for your donation to the standing work stations. They are such a wonderful benefit and asset to my classroom for my students. I have put them in three different locations in the classroom and students are using them to work from both with written work and with their Chromebooks. They gather around them for collaborative activities, and students are using them to work when they need movement and need to get up from their seats. One group of students all gathered around and shared the space to work together in identifying similes in a poem; they were standing, walking around the work station, and working together.
When these arrived and were set up in the classroom, my students were extremely excited for them and loved seeing how they worked. One student said, "I am so happy these are here" and another (who struggles with anxiety) said, "finally, I can stand and do my work." My students love seeing how they are adjustable and also can be moved to different tables in the room depending on needs. Some students are even putting them on a lower setting and putting their Chromebooks on them and putting their books on the table part, setting up a workstation for themselves.
The next step is to continue to encourage students to utilize the work stations and to also to continue to incorporate more flexible seating options. Currently there are yoga balls, regular chairs, two more "comfy chairs," and now thanks to the amazing donation, the standing work stations. My students are excited to come to English class knowing they can find seating or standing that works for them. They are more engaged and focused now that they have the ability to stand if needed to work.
Thank you so much for contributing to my classroom and my students learning. This project has helped so many students who struggle with learning, ADHD, anxiety, and other learning difficulties.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Argentieri
