These materials will help students understand Earth's systems in a project-based learning environment. When students are able to show extended thinking by creating and applying concepts to standards through hands-on projects, they are more likely to retain the concepts being taught and have fun while doing so. Students will individually create a terrarium with potting soil, grass seed, and clear plastic containers to see how our atmosphere, biosphere, geosphere, and hydrosphere work together as a system. Throughout the quarter, students will be able to look back on their terrariums and watch their progress while connecting them to the topics being taught.
