Many students feel intimidated by math and say "it's boring", when really they mean "it's tough for me", and so they don't engage and interact with the lessons. The games in this project focus on building number sense and using flexible thinking to arrive at answers. Many games are open-ended, meaning there is not just one right answer. These kinds of games boost confidence! We will use these games to get them excited and interested in their learning, then they will be confident to show their parents how to play the games at our Math Night! Parents will see how math can be incorporated into family games, and will see their children eagerly challenging each other and playing together. These games will make it possible to have a positive home-school connection focused on mathematics.
