My classroom was created for preschoolers with Autism to have an environment that helps them with communication, socialization and regulation skills. Although they do hold a common diagnosis of "Autism" my students are far from being similar. Each student that walks (or runs) through the door of my classroom comes with a special story that defines them more than their label of "Autism". They could be the last child of 5, a twin, an only child with a single mother; but they all require specialized, modified materials, visual supports, and patient educators to help them gain the skills they need to be successful. Some students need a picture to choose a toy, a support to breakdown a story, or a picture to request their favorite snack and all of these pictures should be readily available for these individuals.
