I am a first year teacher, and the majority of the items chosen will aid in enhancing each of the student's learning environment and development. Being able to incorporate hands-on experiences through learning, allows students to develop a deeper understanding of concepts being taught, and gain a real-life perspective in order to apply concepts within and outside of the classroom.
Many of the items selected will assist students in building onto prior knowledge in content areas such as math and science. When students are able to apply what they learn to real-world situations, it increases their capability to be an informed and productive citizen.
The Table Top Light Panel, Small Group Teaching Easel, Fraction Number Lines, Visual Math Write and Wipe Boards, Real Working Cash Register and Scratch Art Design Tools with help students retain concepts being taught, through hands-on experience. Students will learn about their body parts and how their bones work using the table top light panel. It will allow students to understand what bones, muscles, and joints
are and how they work together to keep us moving. Each of the math tools and manipulatives will help students add new strategies to their toolbox when deciphering operations. The answer game buzzer will be used when students are challenging one another to collaborate and recall an answer quickly. The privacy partition will be placed in each student's cubby and used when students need to work independently or a test is being administered. The heavy-duty pocket chart will be displayed in our reading center, to inform students of the centers they will rotate through. The math bingo games will be placed on a shelf in our math center, and students will have access to these games as an option in the math center.
