These stories will be read to students during distance learning the first few weeks of school as Mr. Colato Laínez will be the first award winning author we learn about: his life, writing style, and themes he covers in his books. Students will identify with the themes, the illustrations, and the language in these books because they were written by a Latinx teacher who immigrated to the US, learned English in school, but spoke Spanish at home. These books are rich in vocabulary (both English and Spanish), focused on Latinx culture, and a the illustrations are beautiful!
