  • Cardboard Electric House Supplies

    Funded Nov 16, 2022

    I want to express how deeply grateful we are for the supplies. Every semester my students culminate their Physics training by constructing a cardboard house and completely wiring it for electricity (both parallel, series and combination circuits). This is one of the major projects that my students look forward to the most.

    I knew that this year I would have many more students to work with in both Semesters and the lack of supplies would be difficult.

    By getting these extra supplies my students did not have to wait around for the proper equipment to wire their houses. They were able to get right to work and completely wire their electric homes with equipment that worked well.

    I am enclosing some of the pictures of them working on their electric homes and some of the finished houses.

  • Clean, Healthy Air for Students

    I cannot begin to tell you how incredibly grateful that we are for the generous donation. Our school serves a very diverse and low income population that faces a multitude of health challenges. All of our students live in areas that are heavily polluted and are in fact on the Environmental Protection Agency list of areas in danger from cancer and other lung diseases. Our students come to us with already compromised immune systems if you added in the possibility of them contracting Covid the results could be dreadful. If you weight in the factor that almost 30% of our students live with their grandparents the results could definitely be deadly.

    Please know that this has made my shoulders feel much lighter and those of my students as well. This air filter along with the one that I bought completely covers our room and students are able to eat their lunches with the added confidence that in some part this is helping to keep the 'cooties' at bay. :-)”

This will help my students be able to concentrate on learning by not being overly-worried about possibly contracting Covid from another student and taking it home to family members or friends. I realize that this is not a cure-all or complete protection for students but statistics have shown that this will help to filter the air and possibly catch many of the molecules that carry the virus before they have a chance to be inhaled by others around them. They deserve to be safe.

About my class
