Flexible Seating for Focus & Engagement!

Help me give my students flexible searing options. For many of my students, sitting still all day is simply not how they learn best. Movement helps them focus, regulate their energy, and stay engaged with their learning.

Reading in my classroom is an active and engaging experience. We strive to create a community of readers where students feel comfortable sharing their thoughts, asking questions, and exploring new ideas. Here are some ways reading comes to life in our classroom:

Read-Alouds: I regularly read aloud from engaging texts, modeling fluent reading, and think-aloud strategies. We pause to discuss key themes, make predictions, and connect the story to our own lives.

Small Group Reading: Students work in small groups to discuss books, analyze passages, and complete graphic organizers. This fosters collaboration and allows students to learn from each other.

Independent Reading: Students have dedicated time to read books of their choice. This promotes a love of reading and allows them to explore their interests. We encourage students to keep reading journals and reflect on their reading experiences.

Class Discussions: We engage in whole-class discussions to share our interpretations of books and connect them to broader social issues. I encourage students to cite evidence from the text to support their claims and respectfully challenge each other's ideas.

Creative Projects: Students respond to books through creative projects, such as writing poems, creating artwork, performing skits, and designing presentations. This allows them to demonstrate their understanding in a meaningful way.

Shared Reading: Students are reading at the same time and in the same place. They will then be allowed to discuss after the reading.”

  • More Book Series for Our Amazing 2/3 Class!

    Funded Sep 6, 2021

Your generosity is with us every single day in the books the students in our class choose to read.

It was been especially moving to see how students gravitate to books with characters who LOOK like them, as well as how children are choosing to read books about children who have characters that do not look like them. It's been very beautiful to witness.

There is a shared humanity in the books we are reading, and please know that your donation has created a lifelong reader.

You have gifted our class with silly, fun, engaging books that represent all of the faces in our classrooms and we are eternally grateful.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jessica

  • Help Create a 2/3 Grade Classroom Library That Represents All

    Funded Aug 31, 2021

We can't thank you enough for the incredible books your donation gave to our 2/3 library.

The class loves all of the books, and when I asked each one which was her/their/his favorite they ran to the ones which represented their lives, skin tone, or cultural experience.

Others said they love reading about all kids of people.

Thank you so much. Your generosity is part of our every day. Your contribution to our books have created readers. Your contribution to our books make our kids feel seen. Thank you.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jessica
