On May 1st, I am hosting AHS National Decision Day. National Decision Day, is a nationwide initiative created by former first lady Michelle Obama, to celebrate high school seniors on deciding what college or university they will attend in the fall. AHS has a rich history of academic excellence and, with guidance, we are making strides back to the top.In efforts of celebrating all 100 seniors who have worked diligently to prepare for college, military and career choices, I am presenting AHS Decision Day 2018. Decision day will allow the seniors to announce where they will be attending to the rest of the class and will inspire underclassman to begin to think about their college choices. The students will announce their decisions with decorated "Decision day" shirts (In the fall I am going to...). In addition, I would like to raffle and give out supplies to those seniors headed to college so they can be prepared academically and financially. My students need supplies which will help them successfully transition into their post-secondary opportunities. Supplies such as school supplies (binders, pens, paper, flash drives, book-bag, etc.) bedding, study material, computer technology, and other items will be used to award students as they enroll into college. These supplies will help offset the cost of attendance which tends to render many low-income first-generation students. Moreover, to allow students to decorate their shirts, fabric markers are of a necessity. These markers will allow the continued excitement and conversation of college-going culture to filter the halls of AHS. My goal is to have these decorated shirts spark a conversation and/or ambition to attend like-minded schools and universities.
