My students are 7th and 8th graders who attend a diverse K-8 school in an urban setting. Social Studies used to be a core component of every students education but over the past several years it has become the subject most quickly dismissed by those prioritizing budgets and resources in urban districts. My students work hard to better understand the world they live in so that they are prepared to actively participate in their community and become agents of positive change.
