3D Printing; Multi-Dimensional World
Funded Sep 7, 2018Thank you for your generous contribution to our project! Our 3D printer in our tech lab has been a tremendously exciting addition to our classroom this year.
7th and 8th graders both completed units on Computer Aided Design, learning how to use Tinkercad software to build three dimensional objects. Earlier in the year, 8th grade students designed "inventions for a better world" in another class, and in technology class they had an opportunity to actually build models or prototypes of these inventions. Both grades enjoyed learning how to use software to create tangible objects, and I have no doubt they'll build upon these skills in future technology classes, both with me and elsewhere.
6th graders are about to start a lunch club where they'll learn to create models, print them, and tinker with those models to improve the design.
Overall, the students of MS 447 have been really excited to have this technology available to them. Inevitably, students make their way here during their lunch to see if they can print something, or even to see if they can help troubleshoot issues that arise with the printer.
Thank you again for helping bring this printer to our school!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Landman
