  • Books, Books, Books! 'We Are in a Book,' By Mo Willems

    Thank you once again for your generous donations! We received our package, and the children are having a blast reading the Elephant and Piggie collection of books. These books are not only enjoyable, but also educational. The books are made for all readers, but lend themselves well to beginner readers. The books contain many of the sight words they are learning this year. As a result, they are able to independently read them, and therefore, feel and see themselves as READERS!

    All of the books will be read as read alouds by myself of course. In addition, they will be used in our Buddy Reading, and Independent Reading Centers. The Mo Willems collections will add to our excitement of reading throughout the school year! I can't wait to surprise them with their own copy of 'We Are in a Book', which was included in this project!”

    Thank you for your generosity! We have been using our paper to print math games on. The sheet protectors are such a convenience. It protects our printed math games, and allows us the luxury of repeated use of the games. Not only do we use the dry erase makers on our math games, but we use them on our dry erase boards during lessons. Thank you for making these supplies accessible to us.

    Before we opened the boxes, I explained to the children that some wonderful people sent gifts to our classroom. I demonstrated how the materials were going to be used. They had a look of surprise and excitement. Math game time in our classroom is always something to look forward to, thanks to our donors.

    We are currently working on becoming great readers, writers, and mathematicians.”

The supplies I've requested can be quite pricey, but are essential in our learning journey, and help with the interactive activities that take place in our classroom. The card stock, sheet protectors, and dry erase markers provide the children with reusable, and interactive math and ELA activities for our classroom, and for the children to take home. These interactive activities cultivate an environment of enjoyment while learning. Please help us keep our educational journey fun and moving forward!
